When The Moment Comes
When the Moment Comes, presented by DramaforaChange and ajusticenetwork, runs June 19–21, 2025, at Seattle’s Rainier Arts Center. Directed by Tamara Rothman and produced by Nava Bastani Sarracino, the play features a touring cast from Anchorage, Alaska, and tells the powerful true story of Bahá’í persecution in Iran following the 1979 revolution. Centered on Ruhi Jahanpour, an Iranian Bahá’í woman imprisoned for her faith, the play highlights the resilience of individuals who endured torture, incarceration, and execution. It also honors ten of Ruhi’s cellmates who were executed on June 18, 1983. Through personal testimony and historical truth, When the Moment Comes reflects on themes of justice, religious freedom, and gender equality. As part of the global campaign #OurStoryIsOne, the production serves as a moving tribute to all women who have stood for human rights, shining a light on the ongoing struggle for freedom and dignity in Iran and beyond.
