Sangjaru with Iris Kymm

Sangjaru is a Seoul-based Korean folk fusion trio whose music brings the storytelling traditions of pansori, the improvisation of sanjo, and the melodies of minyo into conversation with gypsy swing, funk, rock, and free improvisation. Formed in 2019, the trio quickly gained recognition with the Sori Frontier prize at the Jeonju International Sori Festival and has since toured the UK and Europe. Their Pacific Northwest debut at Rainier Arts Center features special guest Iris Kymm, a Seattle-based Korean indie singer-songwriter blending alternative pop, R&B, jazz, rock, and electronic influences.
