SUMMARY:Celebrating Roots
DESCRIPTION:\nCelebrating Roots is a youth-focused grassroots organization promoting youth-led community healing through the creation of a culture of celebration and creative self-expression. Celebrating Roots seeks to engage youth from marginalized and refugee/immigrant backgrounds to create positive social change in their neighborhoods. We empower youth to do so through mentoring and culturally relevant, project-based, creative programming. Using a youth-led model of engagement, youth participants and their mentors strategically plan and host a multitude of community gatherings, festivals, and community-building events to cultivate a culture of celebration and camaraderie among the diverse community members. Through our projects and programs, youth participants work collaboratively to celebrate each other and co-create more vibrant neighborhoods while developing the essential civic, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills required to affect positive social change.\nA Seattle based 501(c)3 founded and led by first-generation refugee and immigrant women. We provide holistic developmental support to youth and families from marginalized communities through after-school programs and services.\n
